Chad then presents the common names for the 3 and 4 carbon complex substituents including isopropyl, sec-butyl, isobutyl, and tert-butyl groups. Chad finishes the lesson by naming two examples of alkanes that have complex substituents using both the systematic and common names where appropriate.
