Halogenation of Alkenes & Halohydrin Formation | 8.6 Organic Chemistry

Chad covers two related alkene addition reactions in this lesson: halogenation of alkenes and halohydrin formation. He begins by showing how to predict the products knowing that the major product results from Markovnikov addition and Anti addition. Chad then shows the mechanisms for both reactions showing the halonium intermediate (bromonium or chloronium) and why it leads to both Markovnikov addition and Anti addition.
