Grignard Addition to Aldehydes & Ketones | 19.7a Organic Chemistry

In this lesson Chad presents the nucleophilic addition of various carbon nucleophiles to aldehydes and ketones. This includes a review of the addition of acetylides and grignard reagents to ketones and aldehydes to form alcohols as well as the addition of HCN to ketones and aldehydes to form a cynohydrin. The acetylide addition mechanism, grignard reaction mechanism, and cyanohydrin formation mechanism are all presented as well.
