In this video, Flavia Diamante shows us how to prepare a fresh basil pesto with almonds, mature tomatoes, garlic and olive oil. She’ll do it all with a mortar and pestle (the traditional way) but she’ won’t call the Sicilian police if you want to use an immersion blender.

👩‍🍳 Can’t find the traditional ‘busiate’ pasta? No problem, use any ‘corkscrew’ pasta like fusilli or trofie… or just your favorite pasta.

⚠️ Just beware: The flavor is WAY more intense when this pesto is prepared with a mortar and pestle. Why? The mortar and pestle lets you press the essential oils and flavors from the ingredients, while a blender or food processor just ‘minces’ (even if it minces well). The result is a big difference in flavor. 😍
