Here we will try to understand How to Divide Two Binary Numbers.
Here is the discussion on how to do Binary Addition, Binary Subtraction, and Binary Multiplication.
How to Divide Two Binary Numbers
The binary division is done the same as that of decimal number division.
We will try to understand the concept of binary division using the following examples.
1001110 / 100
101101 / 110
100100.11 / 111
Example 1:
1001110 / 100
Here we will divide 1001110 with 100 [ Decimal equivalent 4 ].
First, we will try to divide the MSB 1 of 1001110 with 100 which is not possible.
Now we will try to divide 10 from MSB of 1001110 with 100 which is not possible.
Next, we will try to divide 100 from the MSB of 1001110 with 100.
Now we can divide 100 with 100 one time.
The result of the division is as shown below.
Now we will bring down the 1 as we do in the decimal number division as shown in the image below.
But 01 is divisible by 100.
So we will down the next and we add 0 to the quotient as shown in the image below.
Even now 011 [ Decimal equivalent is 3 ] is not divisible by 100 [decmal Equivalent is 4 ].
We have to bring do bring down anther bit down and we have to add another 0 to the quotient as shown in the image below.
Now 111 [Decimal Equivalent is 7 ] is divisible by 100 [Decimal Equivalent is 4 ] is divisible by 1 time as shown in the image below.
The remainder of 111 – 100 = 011.
Now we have to bring down 0.
After bringing down the zero 110 is divisible by 100 1 time as shown in the image below.
The remainder of 110 – 100 is 10.
We have to do the division until the remainder is zero but we do not have any bits to bring down.
Now we will put a decimal point in the quotient and we will bring down a zero.
Now we can bring as many zeros as possible.
The result is as shown in the image below.
Example 2:
101101 / 110
We will do the division by using the above steps.
The result of the division is as shown in the image below.
Example 3:
100100.11 / 111
The result of the division is as shown in the image below.
