Quantum Chemistry 7.14 – Hydrogen Atom Spectrum
10.4K views on YouTube
Short lecture on the hydrogen atom emission spectrum.
The selection rules for energy level transitions in the hydrogen atom are that deltaS = 0; deltaL = +1, 0, or -1; and deltaJ = +1, 0, or -1. There is no restriction on delta_n, giving the many series of lines which give rise to the Rydberg formula.
