You can learn a lot by working with programmable logic. But it’s often tough to choose a CPLD option that will be easy to work with during prototyping.

Because of this, Bil Herd set out to design a Breadboard Friendly module for CPLDs. He based it around a socket so you can change out chips with different features, and added all of the support hardware to the board.

This is the second version of the build, and resulted in a compact 40-pin board which interfaces will with a solderless breadboard.
