In this video, we look at the structure and properties of haloalkanes (which are also called halogenoalkanes). First we look at the structure of haloalkanes and how to name them. We then explore the polarity of the carbon-halogen bond. Finally, we look at how this polarity affects the intermolecular forces in haloalkanes and how this then affects their physical properties.

This video is aimed at the UK A Level Chemistry specifications. Students studying International A Level Chemistry will need to check their specification.
