The Definite Integral

297 views on YouTube

The definite integral of a function f(x) from a to b is, when f(x) is positive, equal to the area under the curve between x=a and x=b. It can be approximated with Riemann sums. But if the function takes on negative values, the area above the curve gives a negative contribution to the value of the definite integral. For simple examples, the definite integral can also be computed as a limit of Riemann sums. Infinite Powers, How Calculus Reveals the Secrets of the Universe: https://amzn.to/37PBMjb.
