Derivatives of Exponential Functions (Not Allowed: Chain Rule or Product Rule)

181 views on YouTube

Use the limit definition of the derivative to show that if f(x)=b^x, then the derivative f'(x)=c*b^x for some constant c. The constant is c=ln(b). Therefore, (e^x)’=e^x. Properties of exponents are used to find other derivatives, such as (e^2x)’=2e^2x (avoid the Chain Rule). Infinite Powers, How Calculus Reveals the Secrets of the Universe: https://amzn.to/37PBMjb.
