Implicit Differentiation Example Problems and Solutions (including a Second Derivative)
383 views on YouTube
To get the idea of how implicit differentiation in calculus works, it is best to start with a simple example like the unit circle x^2+y^2=1 where we can solve for y as an explicit function. This can also be solved by replacing y with f(x) or, as is usually the case, using Leibniz notation dy/dx or just y’. From there, a cubic curve is differentiated and approximated, as well as a curve involving the sine function. Finally, a circle not centered at the origin is considered by completing the square as well. Infinite Powers, How Calculus Reveals the Secrets of the Universe: https://amzn.to/37PBMjb.
