This is Part 1 of Professor Fink’s Video Lecture on Synaptic Transmission in the CNS. In this Lecture Professor Fink describes how the sum of excitatory (EPSP) & inhibitory (IPSP) local responses in a neuron determines whether or not it “fires off” an Action Potential. Reference is made to Spatial Summation, Temporal Summation, and Excitatory Neurotransmitters, including ACh, Catecholamines, Dopamine, Norepinephrine & Epinephrine.
The drawing of the Neuron in the CNS show on the video can be downloaded from my web-site: http://www.professorfink.com/PHYS_LEC_VIDS___STUDY_GU.html It is labeled: INTERNEURON IMAGE
