Compton Effect – Full Derivation: Imagine a photon bouncing off an electron. This is the Compton Effect. When a photon collides with an electron and exchanges momentum and energy, as they get scattered in different directions, we get Compton Effect.

The Compton effect is a phenomenon in which a photon (a particle of light) collides with an electron, causing the photon to lose some of its energy and change its direction. This effect is a crucial piece of evidence for the particle-like behavior of light, which is a fundamental concept in quantum mechanics. The Compton effect is also used in X-ray technology to image the inside of objects and has important applications in fields such as medicine and materials science.
The Compton Effect provides irrefutable evidence regarding the Photon picture of light. Light consists of particles called photons that can undergo in-elastic collision with other particles like electrons.
