In this lesson Chad covers all you need to know regarding the spontaneous routes of nuclear decay and provides a summary of fission and fusion. Descriptions of the major routes of nuclear decay are all provided including alpha decay (alpha emission), beta decay (beta emission), positron emission, electron capture, and gamma decay (gamma emission). The net result of each of these routes is discussed as well as clear guidance on how to easily predict the products of when any of these decay processes occurs. The lesson is concluded with a comparison and contrast of fission and fusion including where they occur and which elements are likely to undergo one versus the other.
