In this lecture, Professor Zach Murphy uses an anatomical brain model to explore the ventricular system of the brain. We identify and describe the lateral ventricles, third ventricle, cerebral aqueduct, and fourth ventricle, highlighting their locations, connections, and relationship to surrounding neuroanatomical structures. The lecture covers the flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) through these ventricles, including its production in the choroid plexus and circulation through the subarachnoid space.

We also discuss the ventricular system’s functional importance in protecting the brain, maintaining intracranial pressure, and facilitating nutrient and waste exchange. Key anatomical landmarks are reviewed to help visualize the ventricles within the context of the dissectible brain model.
