In this video Heimler helps you understand the Mongol Empire in all its short-lived glory. In about a century, these pastoral folks from the Mongolian steppe, under the leadership of the fierce Genghis (Chinggis) Khan, established the largest land-based empire in the history of the world.

Even so, they left a relatively small cultural footprint in the world. In large part this is because whenever the Mongols invaded, they tended to adopt the practices, religions, and customs of the people they conquered.

In this video we’ll see how the Mongols fared when they invaded China and compare it to what occurred with them as they invaded Persia.
