In this video Heimler reviews Unit 1 of the AP World History curriculum by comparing different states from around the world: how they built themselves up and how they controlled their land/people.

We look at the Song Dynasty, the Abbasid Caliphate, the Kingdom of Mali, the Delhi Sultanate, the Aztecs, the Incas, and more.

Additionally we consider the spread of world religions during this period, religions like Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam.

And finally we take a look at the enduring but waning importance of nomadic people as conduits for the exchange of culture among the major states.
