The verb “yǒu” is one that may be used as a short answer “yes”.
Repeat the answer “Yes, I have”.

Try replying to the question now. Answer that you have children.

In Chinese, as you remember, nouns do not usually show whether they are singular or plural. The word “háizi” then could mean “a child” or “children”.
