The Secret to Painting Atmosphere is a Limited Color Palette 🎨

Art

Learn how to use a limited color palette for painting atmosphere and environments in your concept art. This is a simple and fast way to build up a painting, where you start with harmony and then add the contrast.

The core idea is to start with an environment color and slowly expand your range of colors and values out from that shade.

And the big takeaway for me is how we can have a vast majority of the colors in a painting all extremely close to each other, with just a few selective values and colors to draw out the contrast.

It’s amazing how our eyes naturally adjust to the scene!
