Most of the dustbins out there are manually operated for disposing waste and one needs to keep track whether the bin is full or not. The proposed system utilizes a clap sensor circuit to automate the disposing of the waste. One can use a clapping action to operate and open the disposal bin. The clap sensor circuit used in the system to automate, consist of Microphone Sensor in order to sense the clapping sounds. The 2 Pin MIC is an acoustic-to-electric transducer or a sensor that converts sound into an electrical signal. This small but powerful mic sensor detects the clapping sound and give the dustbin the ability to be opened on a clap or a tap of a foot.
The Smart Dustbin also has a interesting feature of notifying the user that the bin is full and needs to be emptied. The bin consist of an ultrasonic sensor which keep track on the garbage level in the dustbin. The ultrasonic sensor works on the principle of Sound Navigation And Ranging to sense an object and its distance. The sensor has been smartly utilized in the Smart Dustbin for sensing the level of the waste. Once the sensor detects that the bin is full and needs to be cleared it notifies the user using another smart feature, the IOT, which stands for Internet Of Things. The IOT functions enables the user the ability of accessing anything which is connected to IOT, using a basic internet connection. Applying this in the Smart Dustbin system, it notifies the user that the bin is full and needs to cleared. Using IOT the user can access the bin over internet just with the basic internet connection.
