The Silent To Do List | What can we learn from this minimalist concept?

3K views on YouTube

The Silent To Do List is a hot topic in the minimalist community. In this video I’ll explain what it is and how we can apply this new understanding to improve productivity.

Silent tasks are visual things around us that silently scream out for our attention. They can make you feel uneasy, just like the metaphor implies: make you feel like there is noise all around you.

While the minimalists say, “go tidy your space so you can concentrate”. I’m here to say, you decide what your top priority is, whether that means taking some minutes to tidy first, or just acknowledging you need to get to those things soon but first you have more important things to do.

Understanding the Silent To Do List has made me more aware of when “Silent Tasks” are highjacking my day and distracting me from my agenda. Many Silent Tasks are housework related, so now that I understand the Silent To Do List, I make a point to ignore their “call” the hours when I’m mentally sharpest. Instead I leave time for them at the end of the day when I’m no longer able to focus on computer work.

I really liked learning about the Silent To Do List, and I hope you do, too!
