This tutorial explains the life cycle of stars such as our Sun and larger stars.
During the ‘Main Sequence’ of a it’s life cycle, the star is stable because the forces within it are balanced. During these billions of years, the fusion processes within stars produce all the elements up to iron in the periodic table.
If a star is massive enough, it will explode in a supernova at the end of its life. This huge explosion enables fusion to happen at a huge scale, producing elements which are heavier than iron.
