My first Oscilloscope – Testing a Function Generator! Rigol DHO804 and Elenco Digital Trainer

In this video I connect my Elenco Digital/Analog Trainer (XK-550K) to a Rigol DHO804 oscilloscope and test the trainer’s built-in function generator to see how well it performs.

When I first received this trainer for an electronics class, the function generator didn’t seem to work correctly. After spending time troubleshooting and repairing the unit (the Coarse Frequency switch was broken), I wanted to verify that everything was finally working the way it should.

Using the Rigol DHO804, I look at several waveforms coming from the trainer and run into a few confusing issues along the way. Some of the readings don’t initially make sense, but by working through the setup step-by-step—checking probe settings, scope configuration, and signal measurements—I’m able to figure out what’s really going on!
