How to make Motion Sensor Light Switch at home

In this video, I have shown how to make simple motion sensor light switch using the IR module and CD4017 IC for the toilet light in the home. The motion sensor light bulb will automatically turn on and off when it senses any the motion.

Required components list for this motion sensor circuit:
1) CD4017 IC – 1 no

5) LED 5mm – 3 no
6) 1N4007 Diode – 5 no
7) 5 v SPDT (250VAC) Relay – 1 no
8) LM358 Op-Amp- 1 no
9) 10k 0.25watt Resistor – 1no
10) 10k Variable Resistor (Trimmer) – 1no
11) 270K ohm 0.25-watt resistor 2no
12)100-ohm resistor 1 watt 1no [R3]
13) IR Transmitter Receiver LED Pair – 1 set
14) 1uF 400V AC Capacitor 1no
15) 1000uF DC Capacitor 1no
16) Zener Diode 5.1V 1no

In my previous video, I have shown how to design the motion sensor circuit on the breadboard, you can also refer that video.

In this project, I have controlled the 220v 7 watt LED lamp by using the motion sensor switch without PIR sensor module. The motion sensor circuit automatically turns on and off the toilet light if someone enters and exit the toilet. The circuit is similar to the PIR sensor. Here I have used a CD4017 ic and IR module to make the motion sensor light switch circuit. In this circuit, I have used an inbuilt 5 v transformerless power supply so no required for separate 5v dc supply.
After watching the complete video you can easily design the circuit and use it at home.

This project is also part of DIY Home Automation as the motion sensor switch saves the electrical energy as it turns off the light automatically when it not required. This circuit also can be used as a motion sensor security alarm.
