There is something very, very strange happening to our universe. Some mysterious force—dark energy—has taken control of the cosmos, driving distant galaxies to move in ways that challenge our understanding of fundamental physics.

We can’t see it, we don’t know what it is, and we’re not even sure how it can exist, yet it makes up about 70% of the universe, and it’s growing.
