In this video, we simulate ammonia production using an equilibrium reactor in DWSIM.
🔹 Problem Statement
Ammonia is produced by the equilibrium reaction between nitrogen and hydrogen:
N2+3H2⇌2NH3
A gas mixture enters the equilibrium reactor at:
Temperature: 100 °C
Pressure: 170 bar
Mass flow rate: 1000 kg/h
Feed composition:
Nitrogen = 0.25 mole fraction
Hydrogen = 0.75 mole fraction
The equilibrium constant for the reaction at these conditions is K = 1.2 bar².
Using DWSIM, the equilibrium composition of the outlet stream and the amount of ammonia formed are determined.
This video focuses on:
Setting up an equilibrium reactor in DWSIM
Defining reaction stoichiometry and operating conditions
Interpreting outlet compositions and energy effects
