「Learn Japanese」 て-Form VERB + ばかりいる as “do nothing but VERB”

Although people are never really doing only one activity (breathing, living, etc.), the grammar construct て-Form VERB + ばかりいる can be used to emphasize the shiftlessness of a certain activity. For verbal nouns, both してばかりいる and ばかりしている are acceptable.

Example(s):

最近彼はコンピューターを使ってばかりいる。
Saikin kare wa computer o tsukatte bakari iru.
(Lately, all he does is use his computer.)

この猫は寝てばかりいます。
Kono neko wa nete bakari imasu.
(This cat does nothing but sleep.)

僕の彼女は買い物ばかりしている。
Boku no kanojo wa kaimono bakari shite iru.
(My girlfriend does nothing but shop.)
